Newport International Polo Matches

Entering their 27th season this year, this classic American sport invites teams from all around the world and major US cities, keeping this thriving international pastime alive. Tennis Hall of Fame Open 

The top ATP World Tour Tennis pros arrived in Newport each July to compete in the Hall of Fame Open. Contested on the historic grass tennis courts of the International Tennis Hall of Fame, which have hosted all the legends of the sport since 1880, the tournament is the only event played on grass courts outside of Europe, and it offers the only opportunity to see professional men's tennis in the Northeast prior to the US Open.

Newport International Boat Show

Calling all guests with a passion for boating and adventure: Extend your summer into mid-September by attending the annual Newport International Boat Show. This spectacular sailing event is a true boat show experience, premiering a full range of powerboats and sailboats from both domestic and international companies. With 13 acres of historic Newport Harbor, families and yacht enthusiasts can expect a fun day filled with fishing, sailing, and a relaxing atmosphere.

September 12th - September 15th 


12 Metre World Championship 

Celebrate one of the greatest classes in world sailing history. The 112-year-old International 12 Metre Class encompasses a living history of racing yacht design by the world’s foremost naval architects who pushed their designs to the very limits of innovation. It will be the largest-ever gathering of 12 Metre yachts in the United States with at least two dozen boats from seven countries expected. International teams comprised of elite sailors, including America’s Cup veterans and Olympic medalists, will represent such countries as Australia, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Italy, Norway and the United States.

The Newport Music Festival

Recently celebrating 50 years, this summer music festival takes place in Newport's most stunning venues, including the historic Newport Mansions. Visit the Newport Music Festival website for a full schedule of events.

The Newport Folk Festival

The Newport Folk Festival was founded in 1959 by George Wein. The festival has served as a hub for the Civil Rights Movement, the revivals of Gospel, Cajun & Blues music and Bob Dylan's famous switch to electric guitar in 1965. The Newport Jazz Festival

Newport Mansions Wine & Food Festival 

Presented by Food & Wine. The Newport Mansions Wine & Food Festival highlights include a two-day Grand Tasting with hundreds of wines under the big tents on the lawn of Marble House, a conversation with Zac Posen, celebrity chef appearances and demonstrations, Wine & Rosecliff Gala and a Jazz Brunch. The Cliff Walk & Easton's Beach 

Due to our unique location right along Easton's Beach and at the start of The Cliff Walk, the Summer is the perfect season to visit The Chanler. The Cliff Walk is a 3.5 mile trail along the rocky shoreline of Newport. Offering unique views of Newport's nature as well as the many architectural wonders of the Gilded Age, The Cliff Walk gives visitors a true look into Newport life. Easton's Beach, only a short walk from your guest room, is the perfect location for a sunrise stroll, a picnic lunch or a midday swim. 

Beaches in Newport

Spend the day at any of Newport's iconic beaches. The Chanler is just a 5-minute walk from the Easton's Beach. Easton's Beach is Newport’s longest beach, perfect for a swim or stay on the sand for some sunbathing or sandcastle building. You will also find an aquarium nearby, volleyball nets, surf lessons and concerts throughout the season. 

Newport Vineyards 

Wine and cheese classes, comedic performances, yoga and wine tastings are all scheduled this summer at Newport Vineyards. Tour Newport Vineyards to learn all about the unique climate and how it helps the vineyard produce some of the best wines on the East Coast. 

Yacht Charter & Sailing on Narragansett Bay

Sail aboard legendary yachts across Newport Harbor or Narragansett Bay. There are many different charter companies to choose from. Beach Horseback Riding

Famous Lighthouses

Known for their historic place in the development of modern Rhode Island, the lighthouses of Newport are a must-visit during you stay. A popular attraction any season, the summer sun shines brilliantly on the Bay and Newport Harbor, home to the Castle Hill Lighthouse, Newport Harbor / Goat Island Lighthouse, and the unique Ida Lewis Lighthouse at Lime Rock. Take the ferry out to Rose Island and tour one of the most historically significant New England lighthouses, The Rose Island Lighthouse.
